When the sun sets, the mountains are illuminated intensely, which looks particularly beautiful.

On the outskirts of Ostrau at the sports field you have a beautiful view of the Falkenstein and the Schrammsteine.

Beautiful panorama, but no potential as a destination of a hike

From the parking lot in front of Ostrava already a goal. Past the Falkenstein over the high love on the Schrammstein massif, as an example. Or a lap around Ostrava, Emma Bank, Lift and Karls Ruh.

What else is there to say about a look like that? A dream. The entire Schrammstein chain at a glance.

From here you can enjoy the view of the Schrammstein chain in peace and quiet.

The flat, meadow-rich plateau around Ostrau and Neuschandau above Bad Schandau is known as the Ostrau Disc. We looked across the meadows and fields of the plateau to the Falkenstein, the western part of the Schrammsteine and some of the stones on the left bank of the Elbe.

The Schrammsteine are a long, large and heavily rugged group of rocks. It consists of numerous individual rock formations with their own names and a great variety of shapes. To the west, the area is bordered by the Schrammtore, to the east by the Grosser Winterberg. The northern rock area is also known as the Affensteine.

The Falkenstein is one of the most impressive free-standing rocks in Saxon Switzerland in Saxony. It is located in the Schrammsteine, which it lies in front of. The huge rock is almost a hundred meters high and is made of sandstone. In the Middle Ages, there was a castle watchtower on the Falkenstein - steps and beam grooves carved into the rock are still visible today.
