Mohrin has been mentioned as a town since 1306. In 1365, Margrave Otto V had the Stolzenburg built on a peninsula jutting out into the lake on the remains of an earlier fortification, which, however, was deserted again by 1399. From 1402 to 1465, Mohrin belonged to the dominion of the Teutonic Order, and then again to Brandenburg. Moryn is still completely surrounded by a city wall with 3 gates.
