Most Wainwright baggers are lulled into thinking they've reached the summit of Armboth Fell when they reach the large smooth outcrop Birkett top at 1,575 feet (480 m). But the top that Alfred Wainwright chose to include in his guidebooks was actually the lower top a bit further south at 1,558 feet (475 m). If you're a peak bagger who likes to ensure you've reached the true Wainwright summit then keep walking to this point.
