Approximately at the point where this bridge is today, there was originally a ford that gave this beautiful landscape its name, the Wolfsfurth. The building that can be seen from the bridge was once one of the numerous water mills on the Wurm, and is now Gut Wolfsfurth, a Lipizzaner stud farm. Between this bridge and Herzogenrath is one of the most beautiful river valleys I know, the Wurmtal.

They were located at Wolfsfurt 2. The mill buildings were at a height of approx. 148 m above sea level. Above the Wolfsfurter Mühle are the Hochbrücker Mühle, below are the buildings of the Adamsmühle.
The Wurm supplied numerous mills with water along a river length of 53 km. ..."
