An asparagus woman is depicted on the fountain in typical costume of the region
May 1, 2021
At the start of the season - Beelitz April 14, 2016 - a new fountain was inaugurated on the church square, donated by the asparagus association of the city and its citizens. The fountain is adorned with a bronze sculpture:
The Nuremberg-based sculptor Lutz Backes created a replica of a historic Beelitz asparagus cutter.
Cordelia Jung was his model for his sculpture. She has been one of the Beelitz asparagus women for 15 years.

At this point, I'd like to quickly say something about the spring (where it's in keeping with the art of poetry if this 'spring' is a 'fountain'):
And specifically, I'd like to quote the incomparable humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909–1979), who was known to a wide audience for his wit and "Another Poem," with a short quatrain:
"There's certainly a lot of beauty in the element, the wet.
Because you can drink the water.
But you can also leave it alone."
(H. Erhardt)
