The main building and some of the other buildings were built in the 19th century.
The merchants' courtyards experienced their heyday from the 1850s to the 1880s. The grain trade in particular was very extensive. In addition, feed, colonial products, salt, coal and eggs were also sold.

The provision yard, dating from the end of the 16th century, is the oldest part of the building.
As early as the 19th century, the old harbor was the lifeblood of the town, and the yellow warehouse on Paludan Müllers Plads dates back to this time.
Previously, it belonged to the town's major trading company, Elias B. Muus A/S.
