Best Hikes to Feels Like Home Mural by The Caver (Stadt.Wand.Kunst Mannheim)

Tips

  • Stadt.Wand.Kunst is a project initiated by the cultural center Alte Feuerwache in Mannheim for the painting of houses in the city with large-scale wall paintings (so-called murals) by national and international artists from the street art scene. This was started in 2013 and should ultimately result in a kind of public gallery in the urban space.
Feel Like Home - THE CAVER
The Portuguese street artist and graffiti artist THE CAVER alias Nuno Barbedo sprayed a collection of objects that he practically bought from home on the front side of a hotel building in F 7, 5-13, 68159 Mannheim, Welt-Icon on a blue background brought the living room to Mannheim. In a somewhat abstract form, these are figures with bold color combinations and bold outlines. Books, chess pieces, pencil and spray can, as well as a bust, a globe and a candle are depicted seemingly at random, as well as the moon and a star.

  • In “Feels Like Home” we discover seemingly random chess pieces, books, pencils and spray cans, a globe, a bust, a candle. All items from THE CAVERS living room in Porto. When he was making preparations for his trip to Mannheim and thinking about the motif, he had the idea of simply bringing objects from his life there with him here. And because he loves the night so much, the moon and a star. And because he loves listening to punk rock, another flash. And because he is a fan of the absurd, individual eyeballs float through the picture. He designed the sketch digitally on his tablet and put it square by square on the wall in Mannheim using a pre-drawn grid. He used around 200 cans of paint (source: stadt-wand-kunst.de/caver/)Video about the creation:
