Bannerdale Crags

Bannerdale Crags

Recommended by 76 hikers

Bannerdale Crags is a fell of contrasting sides. Its broad grassy ridge connects to Bowscale Fell and drops gently to the southwest, while its rockier northeastern flanks plunge steeply down to the River Glenderamackin. The fell takes its name from the crags of this northeast face, which is split in two by a fine ridge that runs down to Bannerdale.

Bannerdale Crags is a 2,241-foot (683 m) Wainwright fell of the northern Lake District. It gets it's name from the dramatic crags that run from north west to south east that drop sharply down to the valley of Bannerdale Beck. A great fell to visit at the same time as hiking its parent peak, Blencathra.

A brilliant central fell that is a good viewing point for the rest of the Blencathra group.

Quite a quirky fell when you see the crags on one side. Walking along them to the next fell for me was Bowscale and it had some amazing views of the crags
