With its seven floors and 29 meters high, the De Valk Mill Museum is hard to miss.

After the death of the last miller, the mill became a museum in 1966. The only surviving municipal miller's house in the Netherlands exudes the atmosphere of the time around 1900. The knives turn regularly and from the position you have a wonderful view of Leiden.

Long ago, the city walls of Leiden were equipped with windmills. After all, the higher they were placed, the easier it was to catch the wind. There used to be 19 windmills on the city walls of Leiden.
Only the De Valk windmill - built on the Valkenburger bulwark - remains.
