A boardwalk is a walking path consisting of planks or wooden plates that are attached to poles or support beams above the ground. You often see them:
• in marshy or wet areas, such as forests with marshy areas, dunes or nature reserves,
• to ensure that walkers stay dry and do not damage the vulnerable nature,
• sometimes in a straight line, sometimes winding (zigzagging) to follow the natural environment.
