In 1891, the Walkenried gypsum manufacturer Albrecht Meier built a representative villa with neo-Gothic style elements and a tower with a half-timbered upper floor on his factory property near the Faulen Sumpf. The architect who designed the building is unknown, and it is possible that the construction plan came from Meier himself. What was new and unusual about this building was the use of prefabricated blocks of plaster of paris as building material for the exterior and interior walls. Shaped parts such as cornices, imposts and window jambs were also cast from plaster.
