The Griebnitz Canal was created in 1901-1906 at the same time as the Teltow Canal by connecting individual existing lakes. It should serve tourism and improve the water quality of the lakes.

The path is a beautiful tour not only on hot summer days. The route is easily manageable for experienced wheelchair users. Very nice as a route tour with public transport from S Griebnitzsee to S Wannsee.
