This is actually "The Black Tree" popularly known as "Krusche Bom". It used to stand outside the village opposite the last farm. At some point in the 90 years people wanted to kill him because the new development area was to be developed. But he persevered.

This pine is a tough dog. She stands defiantly on the edge of a new development area in the north of Mechernich and was not intimidated by a massive saw attack.
Apparently she's doing relatively well even with these blatant cuts. May this remain so for a long time!
