As well as the obvious satisfaction of a challenge completed, reaching a summit often comes with a feeling of relief that the uphill grind is at an end. However, this is not so for those embarking on an anti-clockwise round of the classic Fairfield Horseshoe, Low Pike's 1,667-foot (508 m) apex is merely the first of eight summits.
Nevertheless, Low Pike is a grand objective, boasting gorgeous views back to Windermere and west to the Southern Fells. To the north, the broad, grassy ridge lines of the Fairfield group beckon. A winding, undulating drystone wall draws the eye to the route ahead.

This has to be one of the best dry stone walls in the Lake District. It guides the eye all the way up the ridge in the most mesmerising way!
