"The Riesa Elbe Bridge is a 365 m long road bridge and spans the Elbe in Riesa at river kilometer 108.21. The structure is on the 169 federal highway that connects Cottbus with Chemnitz.

After the old road bridge, which lay next to the railway bridge, was destroyed at the end of the Second World War, construction of a new road bridge began in 1953 upstream at a distance of 200 m from the railway overpass. The structure was completed in 1956. It was the first major bridge that was built in the GDR. Due to the inadequate state of construction, this bridge was replaced in 2001 by a new construction located downstream at a distance of 24 m. "

From the bridge you can see the city center of Riesa upstream with the distinctive mill and the monastery. Downstream is the also remarkable railway bridge on the Dresden-Leipzig line.
