Hiking

In 2019, the ginkgo tree in Jahniswalde Castle Park became the second tree in Germany to be added to the list of National Heritage Trees. The ginkgo is approximately 220 years old and 18 meters tall. With a trunk circumference of 5.15 meters, it is likely the second largest ginkgo in Germany. The tree species was only introduced to Europe from East Asia 250 years ago.

Hiking

It is rare that a tree is declared a national heritage of Germany. The 200-year-old ginkgo in the Jahnishausen Castle Park was honored with it in October 2019. After all, it can live to be over 1000 years old, so it has just outgrown the "teenage age" (:-) and is one of the 100 most important trees in Germany.
