The cathedral and St. Michael's Church have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The first cathedral on this site was built in 872 on the so-called Cathedral Hill. The building is predominantly Romanesque and Gothic in style.

The Hildesheim Cathedral Museum is open during the following hours:
Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed on Mondays
The Cathedral Museum is closed on December 24th and 31st.
Adults: €6 per person
Free admission for those under 25
Groups of 10 people or more, students, and holders of a disability card or social security card: €4 per person
