Schloss Türnich is the only fully preserved baroque palace in the Rhineland. Manor house and castle chapel can be explored like the castle park.
In the attached cafe BIO Kostomenteiten are offered.

    The castle park
The castle is located in a 15-hectare forest park with the chapel, the orchard and the outbuildings. Opposite the castle island - consisting of the manor house, the chapel and the open quarter of the outer bailey - lies the public landscape park Schloss Türnich. The passing Erft feeds two communicating moats, the inner pond and the outer pond.

Nice castle with great garden and a nice spot for a break. The cafe is recommended.

In the cafe of the castle you sit very nice. Park and Castle do not kill you. Everywhere you can actually feel the discreet charm of decay. At least now the gate of the castle will be repaired / restored in September 2018!

Castle Türnich is being renovated with great effort; Nevertheless, worth the detour from the Erftradweg; usually only a few guests sit in the haunted cafe or on the terrace. But it is worthwhile wg. the beautiful herb garden, where almost all domestic herbs are admired. Tip: if the gardener is there, he tells one or the other anecdote of this garden. Highly recommended.

Tour is not worth it in my opinion. Approximately 80% of the route leads past heavily used country roads or through cities. Although on bike paths mostly, but very hectic and scenic uninteresting.
    Too bad.

Wonderful destination! Centuries of history that can be experienced, great gastronomy, atmospheric park close to nature. In addition to the beauties, you can also see the dark and far-reaching consequences of lignite mining. And now Corona too - hopefully the café will open again soon!

The history of the castle can be traced back to 898. Baron Carl Ludwig von Rolshausen had the current form of the late Baroque manor built in the mid-18th century. The design was probably made by the Cologne court architect Michael Leveilly.
