Whoever crosses these arches comes into another world. Romantic restaurants with their gardens invite you to rest. It is worthwhile to linger a little here and immerse yourself in the medieval flair of this small town.

  • On August 11, 1860, at the request of the head of the Franciscan monastery, the Zons town council approved the construction of the chapel "Maria von den Engeln" on the bottom of the monastery. The chapel was built and completed this year.

  • The building of the Rhine Tower immediately adjoins the Customs House and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. The mighty Rhine Tower also served as a toll tower. There and in the adjacent customs house the customs was taken and managed. The customs house was over 400 years owned by the Cologne cathedral chapter. From March 1855 it was a Franciscan monastery and later it was inhabited by Vincentine nuns. The adjoining Chapel of the Holy Trinity was also built in 1860 by Franciscans. The chapel was accessible from the customs house / monastery over the gate overhang weather independent.

  • Fixed Zons is always worth a detour. The picturesque old town is perfect for a walk. The ice cream parlor at the end of the village is also recommended.

  • Translate with the Zonser Rheinfährer into the Urdenbacher Kämpe and explore the floodplain forest and the old course of the Rhine. With the Monheimer ferry back to the left side of the Rhine and to Zons. Best of all on days when no particularly high excursion traffic is to be expected.

  • Nice little ice cream parlor in front of the city gate of Zons. Delicious homemade ice cream that doesn't taste super sweet. Very nice service too. Clear recommendation for a visit!
PS: Unfortunately, waffles are no longer available at the moment.
