The approach from the direction of Glottertal / St.Peter on the Kandel is the less beautiful variant, the approach from Waldkirch is clearly recommended. This has an almost alpine flair and the rather old road doesn't bother you uphill, it is rather shocking for the descent.
But the Glottertal run has also seen better days, in sections there are now also quite rough frost breaks and longitudinal cracks here (04/2021) - so keep your eyes open on the run!
