I had walked with my son from Simonswald over the waterfalls to Kandel. The tour was very demanding and also exhausting. A return trip from Kandel to Waldkirch by bus was planned. There are a few stops but no timetables. Unfortunately, due to the bad road to Waldkirch no bus, but should be back in planning. The large gas station has been closed for quite some time, but there is a kiosk. After we had strengthened, it then went downhill to Waldkirch.

The development of the Kandel area with hiking trails is first and foremost the work of the Black Forest Association. The “Damenpfad” was built as early as 1886, and the refuge by the Tafeltanne (Langeckhütte) was built. In 1889 the "Jägerpfad" was added as an access from Simonswald, in 1934 the Kandelrundweg I and 1954 the Kandelrundweg II. Relatively new is the "Zweälersteig", the first stage of which leads from Waldkirch to the Kandel. Hiking trail is called "Kandelour" or "Josef-Seger-Weg" and is reminiscent of a long-time chairman of the Black Forest Association.
