Recently destroyed in a flood, previously in service, now on display as a model. A very universally applicable water turbine named after the engineer James B. Francis from the USA, in which the impeller is flown radially from the outside. The actual water wheel is on the back.

      Seifersdorf hydroelectric power station
The smallest of the SachsenEnergie hydroelectric power stations went into operation in 1911 as a direct current generator with a maximum output of 50 kilowatts. An 800 m long upper ditch supplies the power station with water. The flood in 2002 almost completely destroyed the hydroelectric power station. It was then completely dismantled except for the upper and lower ditch and replaced in 2004 by a new one at the same location. The hydroelectric power station has a building-integrated solar system with a total of 21 modules and a power display.

      Exhibit: The generator principle
To begin with, turn the handwheel. Then pull the wheel with the rotation axis out to the right as far as it will go and turn it again. What is the difference?

      Exhibit: Generator and Motor
Recreate the function of the motor and generator. All of our household appliances, e.g. drills or the mixer in your kitchen, are based on this function.

Exciting Seifersdorf hydroelectric power plant on the adventure trail.

        Info:

Commissioned in 1911 as the smallest direct current generator of the SachsenEnergie hydroelectric power plants, it was almost completely destroyed by the floods of 2002. Completely demolished except for the upper and lower trenches, it was replaced in 2004 by a new one at the same location.
