Like an oasis, in the middle of the military domain, you will discover the ruins of the former priory Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Ten-Troon. The monastery was founded on the Hof van Grobbendonk on December 26, 1414 by knight Arnold Van Crayenhem at the place then called Hulsdonk, along the old road from Grobbendonk to Herentals.

The old ruins of the former priory. The monastery was built on the place so called “Hulsdonk” on the old road from Grobbendonk to Herentals and belonged to the Windesheimer Order (Augustinians). The foundation took off with a high level of spirituality and craftsmanship, especially in the field of book illumination. Over the years, the monastery was often a target for the Geuzen who attacked, looted and burned it several times. During one of those raids, the throne clock would also have disappeared. This clock is currently in Kettins in Scotland. It will always remain a mystery how the clock got there. One possible explanation is that looting in 1572, which also involved the English and Scots, led to clockwise smuggling. Since October 2006 you can view a replica of the clock in the town hall.
