The settlement Neue Kolonie Jünkerath, Glaadt - Burgbering 1-20, is a former railway settlement that was established in the 1920s. It was built by the railway company to meet the housing needs of its railway staff.

The ring-shaped housing estate is an attractive complex consisting of a gatehouse, six semi-detached houses and a single-storey block with six residential units. The semi-detached houses as well as the row construction have beautifully structured facades and there are courtyard and garden areas between the buildings. This shows the high standard of progressive contemporary housing development at the time.

This urban and architecturally beautiful ensemble is unique in Rhineland-Palatinate.

When the railway line between Cologne and Trier was completed in the 1870s, the operation of the Eifel line naturally also required sufficient personnel. Around 800 railway workers were employed in Jünkerath before the Second World War. In order to meet the growing demand for living space, the Rhenish Railway Company built the New Colony housing estate between 1921 and 1927 for the railway employees. Around 1920, the "New Colony" settlement was created in Jünkerath-Glaadt. It was built by the railway company for railway employees.
The charming complex was laid out in a ring and consists of a gatehouse, six semi-detached houses and a single-storey block with six residential units. The semi-detached houses as well as the row building have beautifully structured facades and between the buildings there are courtyard and garden areas. The then high standard of a progressive contemporary housing development is evident here. Today the buildings are privately owned.
