    Hiking

Super nice little nature reserve with many bird observation posts. Many paths around the Maar and a small parking lot are the ideal starting point for a hike.

    Hiking

The Eichholzmaar is one of the smaller Maare in the Vulkaneifel and is located on the country road between the towns of Steffeln and Duppach. The maar is round and about 120 m in diameter. Its maximum depth is 3 m. It was drained at the beginning of the last century and in 2007/2008 it was renatured and filled with water. Now water birds and reptiles live on this maar again. Hiking

There are a good 350 volcanoes in the Vulkaneifel; 75 of these are designed as “maars” and 12 maars have a maar lake, including the Eichholzmaar. With a diameter of 120 meters and a maximum depth of 3 meters, the Eichholzmaar is one of the smaller Eifelmaars. Nevertheless, the circular shape of the maar basin is clearly visible.
