The coat of arms hall has a very eventful history. Actually already completed with the rest of the airport, the hall was so heavily bombed during the war that all damage was not repaired until 1951. Its heyday was in the 1950s and 60s when all travelers could actually walk through the representative gates.

In front of the coat of arms hall there was even a visitor terrace with restaurants. Older residents report that well into the 1950s, there were often significantly more day trippers and onlookers at the airport than real passengers on Sundays.
