Coming from Merano, the gradient here is 14%, which is quite good with luggage.

Marvelous view, but remember to not leave your bike at the cycleway before climbing up to the chairs, because there is a turn and the road is narrow ;)

A well-developed cycle path awaits you, which will make every cyclist's heart beat faster with its breathtaking landscape and great serpentines. Shortly before Merano, you will be rewarded with the first serpentines. Each bend offers you a new perspective on the surrounding panorama. Lean into the bends and enjoy the wind blowing through your hair. But be careful! Although it is a lot of fun to swing up and down the mountain, you share the path with other cyclists and also pedestrians. Keeping an eye on oncoming traffic is always important, especially in the slow bends. The cycle path takes you over seven impressive bends, with stops that invite you to linger. After the third or fourth bend, you can take a break on the huge deck chairs at the viewpoint and enjoy the breathtaking view. When you are further down, you will find a covered rest area with a drinking water fountain and lots of benches - perfect for recharging your batteries. The Via Claudia Augusta accompanies you on this tour, and the hairpin bends near Algund take you directly to the Trauttmansdorff throne chair. Imagine yourself riding downhill, feeling the wind and feeling like you could fly. The descent is simply wonderful, but be careful: the path is narrow and there is a turn-off, so always keep an eye out for other road users. If you come here in spring, you will experience a real explosion of color. The Vinschgau shows itself at its most beautiful: flowering landscapes as far as the eye can see, from Mals to Merano. Particularly recommended for families - even if you are traveling with a child trailer. And even if many are traveling with e-bikes, that does not take away the charm of this unique cycle path. Finally, a little tip: never leave your bike unattended on the cycle path, especially if you are making a detour to the viewpoint. Better safe than sorry!
