When, starting in 1934, the "Flug- und Luftschiffhafen Rhein-Main" arose on a cleared wooded area west of Frankfurt, this centrally located town became the home base for all German airships and Zeppelinheim became a residential and working area for the "Luftschiffer" (crewmen) and the Ground staff of the Zeppelins, founded.
In its permanent exhibition, the Zeppelin Museum is dedicated to the history of the Zeppelin airships, especially at its location in Frankfurt. Original pieces such as an engine or parts of the interior illustrate the technology of the airships as well as the working conditions and travel on board. In addition, films show the history of the zeppelins.
Hours: Fridays from 14:00 to 17:00, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 to 17:00.
