The relief shows scenes from the death march of the inmates of the labor camp in April 1945.
During this "evacuation" of the camp, more prisoners died than in the previous months while working in the tunnels of the "Malachit" underground storage facility.
The bronze sculpture was made by the Magdeburg sculptor Eberhard Roßdeutscher in 1969 and then set up at this specially prepared location.
