The Beverbeek stream defines the landscape from Herzele, through Aspelare, Nederhasselt, and Outer, to Ninove. There, the arched stream flows into the Dender River. The Beverbeek Valley contains highly valuable natural areas with numerous springs. These are largely wet poplar forests that were still hay meadows 100 years ago.

From the old watermill of Aspelare (located on the Beverbeek) you can follow the stream along a beautiful forest path to Nederhasselt (or vice versa, of course).
