A shepherd girl is depicted in an idealized way and is devotedly caring for pets. The hop tendrils on the bronze column of the fountain symbolize that there were numerous citizens with brewing rights in the town and point to the hop trade.
The rural scene is intended as a reminder that there were broad sections of the population in Münder, such as craftsmen, day laborers and cottagers, who sometimes did not own land. Their small animal husbandry of chickens, ducks, geese, goats and pigs - rarely cows - secured their modest existence. A clear social differentiation can be seen in the distribution of livestock and property (see object Kornhus) within the population. The inauguration of the fountain took place in November 1990.
