These stone walls and also some dry stone walls in the Keulenberg area are evidence of the earlier use as forest pasture. The farmers cleared the stones at their field boundaries to encourage grass growth. Other facilities of this time are pens, walled forest meadows, where the cattle were housed in a reasonably protected place overnight.
