Memory of the victims from 1939 to 1945

At the height of the Allenberg lies the military cemetery, where the remains of 57 soldiers were laid to rest in 1947. 57 white wooden crosses and a large birch cross reminded of the victims of the war. In 1964, the former independent municipality of Bliesmenge-Bolchen decided to redesign the facility. The wooden crosses were replaced by tombstones and the birch cross by a stone memorial. The entire facility was also redesigned. In 1979, the 58th soldier who was discovered by a metal detector in the Bolcher forest was buried there. In memory of the victims of war and tyranny, the commemoration ceremony takes place every year on Remembrance Day alternately at the local war memorial and at the military cemetery on the Allenberg with a church choir, music club and honor guard of the volunteer fire department. Also worth mentioning is the annual presence of relatives of the soldiers who died there at the celebration at the military cemetery.
