Right at the beginning, it goes very steeply (29% gradient) up a vineyard. The path consists only of slate debris, so it has no grip.
After that, however, it becomes quite boring.
Endlessly long and unspectacular it then goes to the destination: Deutsches Eck, where the Rhine and Moselle flow together.

Past the collegiate church of St. Castor, one of the most significant sacred buildings on the Moselle in terms of art history (also called "Moseldom" by locals), the Moselsteig starts for me today on the Boxwood Trail along old vineyard walls. A rocky ridge leads through the forest gorge of the Krailsbach

Stage 19 of the Moselsteig trail is totally varied.
Mostly on narrow single trails, many forest paths, across fields and through vineyards.
And of course, always steeply up and down over loose gravel, slate and stones. So sure-footedness should be present.
There are a few detours, e.g. to the Kasteschkopp

Actually quite pretty here. If only it weren't for one tourist trap after another. Not my thing! 🫣
I'd rather hang out on the Moselle riverbank at the vineyard festival. Chill, cozy, much more authentic and with very few people. Exactly my thing😍

Europe's steepest vineyard - I conquered you 😎.
With Waldraut and Waldemar, my new hiking poles, it was quite doable, although the path was wet, slippery and slick.
It poured and therefore the view was quite modest, but the arduous toil was worth it nonetheless.
