Today's "old town hall" was built on the site of the first town hall in 1585
There was a council wine room, a large hall with scales and a prison. The old town hall is currently a museum. Unfortunately, a visit is currently not possible due to Corona.

The Old Town Hall Wilster was built in 1585 and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Schleswig Holstein. Visitors can get an insight into the living culture of the Wilstermarsch, which is around 200 years old, in the last “Wilstermarschstube”. In the sumptuous ballroom and the courtroom on the upper floor, the valuable library of the Budget Councilor Doos is housed. In addition to the 2,700 books on the top floor, there are another 1,700 valuable books from the estate of the merchant Gustavus Witt-Warstede, who donated them to the city of Wilster. In the former combing room, the Bürger-Schützen-Gilde furnished its guild room with numerous utensils from 1380. The “Burspraak von 1587”, the “Basic Law” of the city of Wilster at the time, can be read on the walls.
Today the old town hall is used for cultural events and there are numerous guided tours. In the past centuries, after the inauguration of the New Town Hall in 1829, a prison was built in, among other things, and it served as an emergency shelter for refugees after the Second World War.
The historic granary of the old town hall was originally located on an Au arm, which has now been piped. This made it possible to use a crane system to move goods directly from ships to the storage facility. Today the granary is home to a natural history museum about the flora and fauna of the Wilstermarsch. The crane system as well as a Klön-Dör and a re-installed prison door are still preserved.
