The lake is part of the Teupitzer waters, a chain of lakes that flows into the Dahme with the Huschtesee. It is located to the west of Prieros, a district of the municipality of Heidesee. On its southern shore is a 38 m high elevation, the Appelberg. There is a natural bathing area on the northern bank, which can be reached from the federal highway 246.[ A fountain path also leads along the northern bank.
