Pesttor and behind it the Tenth Tower of Iphofen. Walled up since 1596. Iphofen was hit four times by the plague.

Hiking

The plague or death gate has been walled up since 1596. Its name recalls the time when the "Black Death" raged in Iphofen. Every night through this gate the plague dead were brought on a cart to the cemetery outside the city and buried there in large pits. The massive square tower was named after the Zentbüttel who lived there. In the 19th century it served temporarily as a poor house.
