Pretty little historic castle complex, it was only besieged once during the Polish-Swedish War in 1656. It was largely demolished in the 19th century and only reconstructed in the 1930s. Destroyed again in 1944, it was rebuilt again in the 1950s by Wacław Podlewski using Gothic bricks from Wroclaw and Neisse. On the 300th anniversary of the 1656 siege, a plaque commemorating the Polish-Swedish War was placed on its walls. There is currently a small museum dedicated to the Warsaw City Walls in the Barbican.
