Via Pfarrstraße, you reach St. Laurentius Church, which was probably built on a former pagan place of worship. First documented in 1257, this building is the oldest in the city. The church served as a place of refuge in times of war and fire. Originally built as a Romanesque fieldstone building (split boulders can be found on the tower and south wall), new windows were added in the late Gothic period (14th century). An extension to the east and the addition of two chapels to the north and south also date back to the Gothic period. The existing flat ceiling was replaced by a ribbed vault. The Mandelsloh and Clüver Chapels contain old gravestones as well as two marble sarcophagi belonging to an old Achim noble family. The clock in the church tower, first mentioned in writing in 1574, is now electronically controlled.

"The country church of St. Laurentius in Achim, Lower Saxony, is the oldest and largest country church between the former bishoprics of Bremen and Verden (Aller). The church, named after Laurentius of Rome, is the oldest building in the city and is owned by the Evangelical Lutheran St. Laurentius - Achim parish used.

The St. Laurentius Church was probably built on a former pagan cult site. In 1257, the Achimer Church was first mentioned in a document by the Bremen Bishop Gerhard II. However, there is strong evidence that the Church is older. In the tower there is a difficult to decipher dedicatory inscription, which indicates the year of construction 1091.
The original Romanesque stone building has been expanded and rebuilt over and over again. The original masonry made of split boulder stones can be seen on the tower and in the south wall to this day. Around 1300 the church was extended to the east, with the almost square choir and two unequal transept arms with hipped roofs. The southern one is larger and has an umbrella-shaped ribbed vault. The north arm is smaller and, like the choir and crossing, has ogival cross-ribbed vaults with delicate ribbon ribs. The nave was vaulted in the 14th century, but these vaults were replaced by the current ones in the late 17th century. The large arched windows on the north side of the ship are also modern.

A clock with a gold-plated dial has been located on the north side of the tower since 1706. A sundial from 1603 is attached to the outer south facade of the Clüver Chapel. "
