The white Radebeul water tower, also known as the French Tower, visible from afar on the edge of the slope in Radebeul-West, with its red conical roof is a cultural monument that characterizes the townscape.[1] The address Am Wasserturm (formerly "at the end of Burgstrasse 5") belongs to Kötzschenbroda Oberort and is located in the historic vineyard landscape of Radebeul, a conservation area.[2] The water tower is the only large building in the Radebeul-West forest park. Which in turn belongs to the Lößnitz nature reserve.

The white water tower, visible from afar, was built on the edge of a slope. Due to its wide visibility, it shapes the cityscape and is a cultural monument. It got its name Franzosenturm because French prisoners of war were used in the construction until 1917. In front of the tower a lookout point was built in 1908 with a clear view over the Elbe valley. On the occasion of the visit of King Friedrich August III. in the Loessnitz the plateau was called König-Friedrich-August-Höhe. The site is currently privately owned.
