LAVA FLOWS and barren NATURE - This area surrounds the Timanfaya National Park in the west and borders the La Geria protected landscape area in the east. The best examples of lava flows and lapilli fields can be found here. The recent lava and associated elements are of great geomorphological interest, so much so that they have been granted the status of a landscape protection area.
