The Stadtkirche was built in 1709-1725 on the former site of the 'Mint', which was destroyed in the war, to have a church that would seat the entire Lutheran congregation. Stones from the old city wall and the mint were used to build the Trinity Church, which is formally called the "Reformation Memorial Church of the Holy Trinity". During the Second World War, the church fell victim to an air raid. The outer walls and tower were originally rebuilt, but the interior has been modernized.

The Trinity Church is an impressive, large baroque building from the outside. Unfortunately I found it locked.

In the tower lantern of the Trinity Church there is a carillon with 23 bells. Today on January 4th, 2023 at 12 noon it greeted us with the Christmas carol "Oh, how joyful".
The carillon is digitally controlled and can be heard 6 times a day. Depending on the church season, appropriate songs from the Protestant hymn book are played.
