The Nonnweiler station - located directly next to the Nonnweiler Viaduct - was the third branch station after Hermeskeil station with the branching of the Hochwaldbahn and Hunsrückbahn and Ruwer station with the connection between Hochwaldbahn (also called Ruwertalbahn in this section) and Moselbahn AG. Here the route (Wemmetsweiler -) Primsweiler - Wadern - Nonnweiler branched off from the Hochwaldbahn. This branching line was even linked to the Hochwaldbahn by means of a triangular track:
