The pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Ettenberg is a Roman Catholic, listed pilgrimage church in the Rococo style and is a branch church of the parish in Marktschellenberg. As the pilgrimage legend reports, a figure of the Virgin Mary was found under a linden tree in 1695. Linden trees had and still have great religious and mythological significance and symbolic power. The linden tree is considered a symbol of justice, love, peace and home as well as a place for community. A small wooden chapel was built on this site to protect the miraculous image. However, wind and weather took their toll on the small church. Only 35 years later, the foundation stone was laid for a new building made of stone. The seemingly fortified building with its west tower from the 19th century seems to have defied all odds. The Maria Ettenberg church stands solid and solid in the untouched nature and awaits the pilgrim at the end of his pilgrimage route.
