The exposed quarry in Scheidwald near Otterberg is an almost 20 meter high red sandstone wall, from which sandstone blocks used to be broken to build houses. The sandstone had been lying fallow since the 1950s, until the idea arose to integrate the quarry into the Hinkelsteinweg of the Otterbach-Otterberg community.
