In 1934, on the occasion of the poet Detlev von Liliencron (1844-1909), who was last resident in Rahlstedt, a stone monument was erected in the park named after him on the occasion of his 90th birthday. A large and simple cuboid stands upright on a multi-level base,

which shows the name in bronze letters and above it, in a hemispherical recess, the portrait head of the poet. He is considered one of the most important poets of his time, who wrote in both naturalistic and expressionistic styles.

      Village church in summer

The sexton sings sleepily, the congregation also sings sleepily. In the pulpit the pastor prays silently for his enemies.

Then the sermon wonderful. An unparalleled sermon, the baroness even cries in the stalls, the coat of arms.

Amen, blessings, doors wide, organ sound and last psalter. Swallows buzz through the glory of summer, butterflies flutter.

      Detlev von Liliencron
