The pedestrian bridge over the Wupper is called Juckelbrücke in the local population. Wupper crossings by footbridges at this point have been documented since the 16th century, but only the construction of a cable-stayed bridge due to inputs Leichlinger and Höhscheider citizens in 1910 led to the designation. The wire rope bridge did not have the necessary stability due to miscalculations in the bridge piers, so that already in 1912 access restrictions had to be introduced. The swaying of the bridge inspired the residents to the name Wackel or Juckelbrücke. Especially among adolescents, according to a 1914 report, it was popular to deliberately rock the bridge.
