The tree-runner searches for food at the high trunk, the rare wood beetles and wasps drill their small breeding caves. The woodpecker pounding a nesting site, which later becomes the bats' dwelling. Here you will find z. For example, our smallest owl, the little owl, is almost exclusively found on old orchards, so nesting aids are also here for him.

Worth a trip are the "Bergische Obstkammern" near Leichlingen, which already in the year 973 AD. were officially mentioned. Hard to imagine that this region still belongs to the city of Leverkusen ... here it is wonderfully natural, in the middle of the country. A narrow dirt road leads through fields of fruit trees. Each field is clearly marked with signs informing about the respective fruits. Old and quite unknown apple varieties like "Jacob Lebel" or "Zuccalmaglios Renette" have their home here.
