The Artists' Colony Museum on Darmstadt's Mathildenhöhe is dedicated to the history of the Darmstadt artists' colony, its exhibitions and the colony's artists. The museum is located in the Ernst-Ludwig-Haus, which was reconstructed in the late 1980s and is the joint studio building of the artist group, which was built in 1900 according to plans by Joseph Maria Olbrich for the exhibition "A Document of German Art" (1901). The museum, which opened in May 1990, documents the 15-year history of the Darmstadt artist community from 1899 to 1914 and provides an overview of the works of its 23 members.
