Hiking Highlight (Segment)
This is part of my favorite home track 😊.
There are beautiful photo opportunities on every meter.

We started from the parking lot station. Since you cross a really big road and walk along it for a few minutes, we first had the impression that it is not a good starting point. But that's not true. Very fast one is then at the Noor. It is a 2 hour tour. You do not need any real highlights, even if the carved owl is already impressive and the white stone quite beautiful to look at. The path is very easy to walk and pleasant. I particularly liked the different views over the Noor, as you get around by walking around, always a new view. At the end it goes again on a main street long, then in Eckernförde to move towards the station. The tour is but managed so that you go through a quiet residential area. Highlight at the end: from the train station you are very fast in the pedestrian zone, where you can strengthen yourself in nice cafes. However, we did not get a seat at the renowned Café Held on Sunday, but we were able to drink really delicious coffee in Café Haupt.

Not only Eckernförde Bay has its charms. A little off the beaten track is worth the tour around the Windebyer Noor. Pure nature, tranquility, watching water birds and just relax. Thanks JR for the info!

It is simply a super nice relaxed round the Noor with lots of nature and waterfowl. We enjoyed it and were not here for the last time, although there are really thousands of highlights here. But the Windebyer Noor is somehow special.

Very rewarding round, quiet and not crowded, with beautiful flowers, ideal with a dog.

There are 2 ways to circumnavigate the Windebyer Noor, the small circular route (marked with 1), which is approx. 8.9 km long and the slightly larger one (marked with 2), which is around 11 km long.

About three-quarters of the Windebyer Noores are surrounded by a hiking trail that runs partly on the old railway line of the Eckernförde circular railways from Eckernförde to Owschlag - the complete circumnavigation is possible via Eckernförde streets. Since the trail was not consistently led around on the banks of the entire Noores and about a quarter was left out, the forests of the break and reed belt have been preserved in some undisturbed location.
The Windebyer Noor has been leased since 1957 by a professional fisherman family business in the third generation, who manages the Noor with eel, perch, bream, carp, roach and pikeperch and since 1990 increasingly with whitefish. The company also rents fishing boats. From the time until 1929, when there was still the connection with the Baltic Sea, herring stocks could hold, but lately decreased. These pegs reach about 15 cm in size smaller than those in the open sea.

Whether long hikes or short walks - in Eckernförde you will find excellent conditions to move and relax in nature.
Or do you feel like doing sports in nature? Then take advantage of the Noorwanderweg, which is equipped with various devices and offers free training for all generations. There are two signposted hiking routes around the lake "Windebyer Noor" in Eckernförde, which are also suitable for Nordic walking.

The Windebyer Noor has a lot to offer: The former Eckernförder Kleinbahn, an old watermill, secluded paths, great trees, a glacial boulder and much more!

Nice round, but you can hear the B76 for a long time at the beginning and at the end. In 2020 there were many corn fields on the edge. From my point of view there are 3 out of 5 stars. There are paths with more variety in the area.
